NoiseBuster® can help reduce dangerous exposure to noise from portable audio devices.

With the introduction of the iPod® line of MP3 players, portable audio use has become more prevalent than ever before.  There is increasing concern that prolonged exposure to loud music is posing a threat of noise induced hearing loss (NIHL). This threat is especially troubling with regard to young listeners who have a lifetime of exposure ahead of them and who tend to overamplify the music when using portable audio players in noisy settings.

The NoiseBuster® noise canceling audio headphone can help reduce this exposure by reducing background noise and allowing the user to listen to music through the headphone at a more reasonable volume level.

While using a portable audio device in a noisy setting, a user must increase the volume of the audio by more than 3 decibels above the ambient noise levels for the audio to be heard.  Prolonged use at these volume levels can be detrimental to hearing.

NoiseBuster contains patented technology that electronically reduces low frequency background noise by 18dB.  The technology works by coupling low-frequency noise waves with their exact mirror image waves.  Ideal for use on airplanes, buses and trains, while exercising, commuting, mowing the lawn or just walking down the street, NoiseBuster can be used on its own for simple peace and quiet or in conjunction with a portable audio device for excellent music clarity without overamplification and distortion.

What is Active Noise Reduction (ANR)?
A NoiseBuster ANR system uses a microphone inside the ear cup (1) to listen to noise coming into the ear (2). Using electronics (3), the system takes that information and uses it to create a noise wave that is identical to, but directly opposite of, the one coming into the ear. The "anti-noise" wave is output through a speaker (4), also located in the ear cup. When the two waves (the noise wave and the anti-noise wave) meet, the noise is significantly reduced (5).

In addition to a risk of hearing loss, noise poses other potential threats to human health.  Excessive noise causes stress and anxiety and has even been linked to physical reactions such as high blood pressure.  Low frequency noise waves are particularly problematic because the noise waves are long and can pass through passive barriers such as a cement wall.  These waves cannot be easily attenuated using traditional earplugs or earmuffs.

The open-back design of the NoiseBuster headphone is comfortable for the wearer and the product folds for portability. The NoiseBuster achieves a good ear seal without enclosing the ear in unwieldy, and often hot, closed earcups. The product has been specifically engineered for superior noise reduction and acoustic performance by electronic noise cancellation experts.
